Hostel/Student Placement - YHA Hathersage

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteers to come and lend us a hand over our busy summer months. You will be able to develop your skills, gain ‘real life’ work experience, as well as build some great memories and make new friends. We are looking for volunteers who could commit to a 1 month placement during the months May - October. This would be a great opportunity for someone wishing to develop their English skills or just experience and travel in the Peak District.

YHA Hathersage is located in the village of Hathersage, a bustling hub of outdoor activity in the Peak District. It is popular with cyclists, hikers and climbers due to its close proximity to Stanage Edge, along with other great climbing spots. It is well connected by train to both Manchester and Sheffield.

Tasks could include helping on reception, cleaning rooms, making up beds, office work or serving food and beverages to customers. You would be expected to work 5 days a week, shifts of approximately 5 hours. In return you would receive accommodation in a private room .The room is en-suite and has WiFi.

We offer up to £105 towards the cost of your travel to get to the hostel. Volunteers can purchase discounted meals for £2.50 per course or use our self-catering kitchen to prepare their own meals.

Please note that all hostel placements are on a voluntary (unpaid) basis and we do not enter into a contractual agreement with individuals or placing organisations. We recommend you purchase travel and medical insurance and you need the Right to Work in the UK.

I had an amazing time volunteering at this hostel. Amy (the hostel manager) organised us all very well and we made some great progress in sprucing up the place. I had the opportunity to meet some lovely, like minded people and some free time to explore the local area.

Very nice friendly hostel that is close to the outdoors centre of Hathersage village with all its attractive pubs (The George, the Scotsman's Pack) and cafes. Lovely home cooked food and great company. A holiday more than work but with a purpose.
