Work experience/traineeship at YHA Brighton 2019

**Please note this is a non-residential volunteering opportunity. Please apply for a Hostel/Student Placement if you require accommodation whilst you volunteer**

We offer work experience/placement and traineeship opportunities for 14-25 year olds at this hostel (subject to availability and eligibility criteria for traineeships*).

This is the perfect way to gain some experience in hospitality for the travel and tourism sector. You would get involved in all aspects of hostel life: reception, customer service, catering, cleaning and housekeeping.

Don't worry if you've never done any of these tasks before we'll show you how to do everything and there will always be someone available to help you.

We can offer this opportunity on a part-time or full-time basis for 1-12 weeks subject to availability at the hostel.

* Eligibility criteria for traineeships include being unemployed and having little or no work experience motivated to work, qualified to below Level 3 and aged 16-24 years old.

Code of Conduct
We ask that you adhere to our volunteer Code of Conduct. We are committed to ensuring the safety of staff, customers and volunteers and will terminate any placement where an individual has breached UK law, is a risk to themselves or others or where they bring YHA in to disrepute.
YHA and Safeguarding
YHA is committed to ensuring the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all volunteers to share this commitment. The suitability of all volunteers is assessed in line with this commitment.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Brighton hostel. The team was hard working and with the high number of volunteers on site in addition to the regular staff, the work was straight forward and efficient. I was able to spend most of my afternoons and evenings exploring, managing to walk to the local library after every shift for use of the computers and borrowing books. The flexibility in scheduling allowed me to take specific days for job interviews and there was no faff, only a bit of sadness when I had to leave early for a job. I would definitely return to Brighton.
