Hostel/Student Placement at YHA Brighton- 1 month
We are a very busy, city centre hostel, in a city that likes to have fun. We can be flexible around start and finish dates so please get in touch if you do not see the exact dates that you are looking for.
We have a wide range of guests here, from families and individuals to groups of young people from schools and youth groups.
Hostel placements are ideal for people needing to complete a student placement as part of their course or if you are looking for a residential volunteering placement for up to 12 weeks.
You will be able to develop your skills, gain real life work experience, as well as build some great memories, make new friends and will be involved in all aspects of hospitality at the youth hostel.
Tasks could include cleaning rooms, making up beds, event management or serving food and beverages to customers.
You can expect to volunteer for five days out of seven with two days off each week. The hours could include evenings, weekend and Bank Holiday working undertaken on a rota basis. In your free time you will be able to travel and explore the local area and our hostel team will have plenty of recommendations for you.
Volunteers receive free accommodation in a shared room.
We offer up to £60 towards the cost of your travel to get to the hostel. Volunteers can purchase discounted food or use our self-catering kitchen to prepare their own meals. Discounted food is available to volunteers in this role for £2 per course to be payable weekly at the hostel, this costs £40-50 per week.
Please note that all hostel placements are on a voluntary (unpaid) basis and we do not enter into a contractual agreement with individuals or placing organisations. If you are coming from outside the UK we recommend you purchase travel and medical insurance and please note you will need Right to Work in the UK, we do not act as a sponsor for visa applications.
Code of Conduct
We ask that you adhere to our volunteer Code of Conduct. We are committed to ensuring the safety of staff, customers and volunteers and will terminate any placement where an individual has breached UK law, is a risk to themselves or others or where they bring YHA in to disrepute.
